John Sidney Herbert Christian was born in 1898 and died in December 1987. He was the son of Ernest Ford Christian and Louisa Florence Buffett and served in World War 1 with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

This is part of a recording made in 1983, in which Sid is reminiscing with David, Christopher, Greg and Susan Magri about growing up on Norfolk Island, seeing Halley’s Comet from Mount Pitt and the wisdom of Gustav Adolph Krissman Quintal, his school teacher.

Sid is the grandfather of Megan Christian Adams and great-grandfather of Zanaida and Paige Adams of Norfolk Island. Gustav Quintal, also known as Gootie, is the great great grandfather of Mercedes and Eloise Grant
